Cheap Mids: Orion, American Bass, Power Bass, db Drive

Perhaps. Although I do know how loud a 12" guitar speaker is on 50W of tube power, and a 100W tube amp with 2 12" guitar speakers will fill up a 500 seat venue - easily - and even make the drummer mad. Apples and oranges, I know.
My previous system back in the 1990s had a 2 channel Zapco amp 50RMS per side, on 5.25" & 1" titanium JBL separates and 2 10" operating bridged off of the same amp for a 3 way passive, low wattage system. And that sounded great, though not an SPL demon, but louder and clearer than what I have now.

Sidebar: I find it interesting that guitar amps operate heavily, VERY heavily into clipping (like square wave distortion/overdrive), yet a 50W amp won't blow up a 50W speaker.

I think it may have to do with the difference in electrical setup. Home/pro stuff is run at a much higher voltage. It's easier to blow a speaker when clipping as you're introducing direct current to the coil, which apparently heats it up more, which causes the damage. Something tells me this is a bit different with higher voltage home/pro setups.

I am pretty sure the zapco put out a bit more power than 50w. You did cheap out with jensen amp. Pretty sure you can get your current setup louder just with a solid amp.

The output voltage of the guitar amp is the same voltage as the output of any 50W amp into a 4 ohm load, per Ohm's law.

And yes, I've regretted the $50 I spent on the Jenesn. This one may also make it to my son's car.

So another question, are you gonna slap the pro mids on this jensen amp or wait until you get a better amp? You won't hear that much of a difference even with a more efficient driver.

Negative. A properly operating amplifier will not produce more than a few mV of direct current. Squared off clipped waveforms are still alternating current. The power over time goes up, so you were right about additional heat going into the speaker.

Probably slap them in, then decide what happens next. I have an active crossover en route for the tweeters and mids, so that's step 1. Step 2 is speaker upgrade, and step 3 is amp upgrade. At that point, I could run the Jensen bridged for 170W RMS (measured) into the mids, and pick up a lower power option for the tweeters. OR, put that jenen in the boy's ride and get a better amp. Depends...

The crescendos are nice. I have 4 10" PWX mids and 2 FT1 tweeters.

If you are on a super tight budget look at Pyle pro. I have heard a bunch of mids and tweeters and they are the best bang for your buck. They get really loud and sound good too. Trust me.

Pyle PDMW6 6-1/2" Mid-Woofer

Pyle PDBT18 Bullet Horn Tweeter Pair (same exact tweeter as Soundqubed but way cheaper)

My nendo 10"s and FT1s next to Soundqubed mid and tweeter.

Sounds good. Between PRVs and soundqubed, won't be able to find something cheaper/louder. Let us know how it sounds with the jensen bridged.

If they outperform the PRVs, that'd be something, though I'd find that hard to believe. He is on a budget though, so the pyles may be the way to go as he's looking for dirt cheap.
I was comparing to the Soundqubed pro audio.

Ive have quite a bit of experience with American Bass, Soundqubed, Pyle Pro, and Crescendo mids and tweeters. Should have some DS18 and PRV to play with soon.

BTW Audiopipe sells diaphragms that fit the Pyle pro, Soundqubed, DS18, Boss, Audiopipe ETC "3 screw hole" super tweeter for stupid cheap.

Could you run through your SQ opinions comparing the American Bass, Soundqubed, Pyle Pro, and Crescendo mids? Or if you've already done this, I can try to find a thread. It would be super helpful! The Pyles are pretty much the bomb reading parts express comments - even taking into account those reviewers are cheap like me.
