Charging batteries

How many batteries can I charge with my 275 amp Singer alt. I have 1 hc1400 under the hood and 2 hc2000's in trunk and I wanna add 1 more hc2000. I also have my amps, a TS3.5k anda 120 watt 4 ch. Current draw on amps together is 460 amps. My car is a 01 Civic.

you'll be fine, just expect to stay closer to 13v

You can charge a lot with one alt, but adding more batteries won't really solve your problem if you're dropping that much.

sure it wont get him above resting voltage, but it'll give his amp the capacitance and reserve it needs to not drop too low.

he has a civic, as much as i agree with you, keep in mind that people with cars are not usually able to get add large amounts of charging amperage by adding alternators like we do. with that being said, it's usually only possible to add more batteries.

if your dropping that low, i would look into a bigger alt before another battery.

just a little insite, right now i only have a 200amp alt ( my other one i took out to upgrade ) and im running 7 batteries.

and its doing fine.

i charge ( cold 15v ) when hot 14.6 )

so if you get that other battery you will be fine with charging.

and im dropping low myself with 1 alt. full tilt 11.4 .

i need to get that other alt back in. but i dont crank it up right now.

i did 1 time thats how i know.

Yeah, if he's got a Honda, the voltage might be pcm controlled too. I don't know if the 01 civics were or not. If so, that's a whole other issue

I get 14.7 cold and 14.5 or 6 when hot. That 275 is already too big for the engine bay. I can barely get the belt tightened. I'll be glad to get another vehicle too. I just don't wanna damage my equipment for the time being. I was thinking another run of 1/0 ofc...? Does anyone have opinions there? I only have 1 run right now...

as long as its not below 12.6 at idle, you should be fine to be honest. You can manually raise Idle RPM so you dont have to worry too much as well so your alt will be charging a lot higher rather than not charging enough.
