hi. im new at ripping cd's but i think i got most of it down. just this part is confusing. now i extracted the songs off my cd with a program "CDEX" and i compressed them all down. they are now in "wav" format and when i go to the saved file where they are, it shows them there but they are not in mp3 or wmp form?? i want to pu them in mp3 mode to transfer on my mp3 player. i tried for 2 hours but i cant figure it out! any help would be great!! i know its not hard for some, but i have no one around me who knows this stuff.

thanks a lot!

James, is Adobe paying you to mention Audition in every other thread?

In CDEX, click the gear at the bottom right (or run options > settings), then under Encoder select the LAME MP3 Encoder. Change the bitrate min to whatever quality you want (the higher, the better), and don't worry about the bitrate max unless you plan to rip @ VBR. Then go to Convert, then select extract tracks to a compressed audio file. Voila.

That's what I was thinking...

...even though it's the precursor to Audition, I stick with CoolEdit 2k. I downloaded Audition a while ago but was too scared to run it for fear of getting infected with a virus; you know how those cracked programs (off Limewire) are sometimes...
