Cerwin Vega Vmax enclosure?

I just got a Cerwin Vega Vmax 12 in a vented enclosure, I'm running it a 4 ohms bridged on the sub channel of a Zapco AG650.6. I took measurements of the box (subtracted the mdf width) and I got 1.5 cubes not including the sub volume. The sub sounds good at low volumes but as soon as I crank it up the sub takes a nose dive, especially on the low end. I assume the box is choking the sub, Cerwin Vega recommends 1.75...does anyone have any experience with these subs? If so, what type of enclosure works best for this thing?

yeah I subtracted the port volume, my current enclosure has a slot vent. I found the enclosure thread and printed out a couple of 2 cube vented enclosures tuned at 35 hertz. Why are you suggesting 33 hertz? I'm just curious, does it make a difference?

curious to this as well.. what size ported box and tuning is optimal for these subs? meaning no resources to build it, so i need to buy one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
