Cerwin Vega Vmax enclosure?

I just got a Cerwin Vega Vmax 12 in a vented enclosure, I'm running it a 4 ohms bridged on the sub channel of a Zapco AG650.6. I took measurements of the box (subtracted the mdf width) and I got 1.5 cubes not including the sub volume. The sub sounds good at low volumes but as soon as I crank it up the sub takes a nose dive, especially on the low end. I assume the box is choking the sub, Cerwin Vega recommends 1.75...does anyone have any experience with these subs? If so, what type of enclosure works best for this thing?

sounds like you need a bigger enclosure because you have very lil power for the sub.

first off did you also subtract the port vol too and what dose it have for a port?

I'd do something like 2-2.25ft^3 tuned to 33hz. The 2-2.25ft^3 is after all displacements.

yeah I subtracted the port volume, my current enclosure has a slot vent. I found the enclosure thread and printed out a couple of 2 cube vented enclosures tuned at 35 hertz. Why are you suggesting 33 hertz? I'm just curious, does it make a difference?

Why are you suggesting 33 hertz? I'm just curious, does it make a difference?

It just gives you a little better low-end extension. I'm a big fan of lower tuning anyways(28-30hz).
