Cerwin vega 12"s or Hifonics 12"s?

I went to a local shop here, and i'm planning on buying something there tomorrow. I'm looking for something that will be good on a budget, and they have two packages i'm interested in

2 12" hifonics HFI12D4 subwoofers + a box, and a crunch 1100.2 amp, for $175.

and they have 2 12" cerwin vega vega series subs + a box for $200, but no amp. So after adding in an amp, the total would probably be close to a little over $300 I would imagine.

How much louder do you think the cerwin vega subwoofers would be compared to the hifonic subwoofers? Would the extra sound be worth spending the money on? I'm mainly looking for loudness (I guess its called SPL?), so yeah.

I also drive a honda accord if that matters at all.

get the hifis, find a cheap amp in the classifieds here and build a box. i have a pair on 400 rms in a box tuned to 32hz are they are surpising what they can do. just waitin to give em 600....

Do you know how much louder the cerwin vegas would be then? I talked to the guy at the shop and he told me they would only be slightly louder than the hifonics, and that the extra money is mainly buying a brand name. thoughts?

I don't know much in specific about either woofer, but I can tell you one thing: loudness isn't everything. If your subs go "a little bit louder" but sound like a wet fart in comparison, it probably isn't worth it.

It matters which Vega's they are. It's more important for a GREAT box than it is to the subs. A 5krms 18 won't do shit in a 1.5 cube box.

If you're anything like me, I'd either get the Vega's otherwise you'll wish you got the better ones. Or you can just get some subs online ;D

Theyre the Vega series 12" ones with 200 RMS to each sub, not the VMAX ones. They had a 15" one with a box for it for $165, but they sold it yesterday and that was their only one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well, in that case there won't be big enough of a difference to care.

Why not get 1 serious sub and be awesome?

You should love me for this:

And please, read closely on how to tune an amp as you will be overpowering it (extra powers great if you're not retarted)

That does look really nice, i'd imagine that one 12" sub with the custom box would pound alot harder than both of those other options? Do I have to email the guy in that thread to get the deal on that sub+box combo or what?

Also, thanks alot

By a long shot, and yes. That guy is the owner of the company.

Go to my youtube, I have two of them in my car. This leaves rooms for upgrades (if you'd ever want any!)

This 1 sub should definitally do what you want and more

He makes the box to the dimensions and tuning you'd like.

I recommend 2.25 cubes tuned to 33 hz

Go measure!

Alright, thanks alot man. I looked up some videos of those subwoofers and they look sweet. Just sent him an email, hopefuly he replies back and I can start talking with him soon.

Also, if i bought that amp that you recommended, how would you set it up with this sub for the most power?

get the dual 2 and wire it in parallel (red to red, black to black, and then the set to the amp) and then it's a monoblock so just pos and neg into amp.

4 gauge kit with a fuse rating of 100 will handle that setup and you're hooked up!

You'll love it (he'll prolly email you back tomorrow)

Remember there will be build time for the box, they're not pre made because it's custom to what you want
