center brace, make a difference?

besides adding structure support, does it effect the sound at all? meaning i have a 16 cube box for my 4 15" but i put a brace in the center so i actually have two 8 cube boxes. if i cut out the center of the brace, and have all 4 subs in a common chamber, would i notice a difference?

it will probably keep the box from flexing.... I'd do it or at least put some dowel rod from top to bottom
