If i buy an unlocked phone off ebay and take it to my provider, they can set it up for me right?

ok so if i have alltel i dont believe they have sim cards, i can buy a "unlocked" phone off ebay and get it set up with my current alltel plan ? correct me if im all wrong.

Best thing to do call customer service don't go to the store and try and get a deal.If you need to sign a new contract you got them by the ball tell them about other companies deals. If you are not up for new contract you can still deal,If your old phone didn't have a camera tell them you are looking to get a camera phone so you can do picture messaging or get better downloads they see it as a service you will be using that you could never use before and they can make more money off that. my contract was up I told verizon I was thinking of going to nextel I got the motorola V710 for $200 and they gave me a $50 rebate they also included handsfree thing, case and a car charger
