cdt or phoenix gold?

Imaging and sound staging. Unless you have plans to run a true surround sound processor and play source media recorded in a surround sound format, there technically is no reason for more than front left and right speakers for stereo playback.

Thank the auto makers over the last couple decades for screwing up and distorting that simple truth. They advertise the fact that they've stuffed a dozen speakers in a car making people thing it's big and bad, but in reality it's nothing more than a sales gimmick.

Some people still prefer rear fill, so if you try fronts only and still want something coming from the back, don't feel bad about it! It's your vehicle and your system, afterall.

I'd recommend just starting with the basics: front comps and a sub stage. You might like the results so much that you won't have to spend extra money on more speakers and possibly more amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Very good explanation Wiz!

Plus I also think, with the rears most likely being in the doors of the SUV, your so close to them, and it wouldnt make much of a difference, you'll hear the comps up front fine, but with the rears so close, I dont know how much you would notice them

Just my 2 cents

Bridge the amp and set the gains to deliver 110-150w rms per side on the RSd's? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I should receive the RSDs comps I ordered for my wife's car on Thursday, which means I'll be installing them on Saturday morning. I know you guys are all talking about giving them 100+ watts, but I'll be hooking them up to an Alpine mrp-f250 (40x4 rms).

I was origianlly planning on amping the rear RSD coaxials I bought for her car too, but now I think I might just bridge the amp for 100x2 rms and run the rears off the hu.

The wife really wants sound out of the back of her car. I guess I'll try both ways and see which she likes better.
