720prs is an alright set, and the ef-61 set ok too, but getting into the new 07 CDT setups like the HD M6, HD M6+, ES-06, ES-06+ are just awesome.

If you get the cdt's,just be sure to uppgrade our xover. The Satnet 400 or whatever comes with it, the tweets cuts off at high volumes or when pushed hard. Very fustrating. Ive seen several people have this experience. Other than that I liked them.

Those are 50w RMS, and he has 100w RMS. That's not really safe, in my opinion, unless you are very experienced with gain setting.
Regardless, I wouldn't even touch the Phoenix Golds. (At least their RSD series.) CDTs are really nice in my opinion, I'd do something like their EF-61FG's (I think they're like, two bills right now) or CL-61A's. Friend of mine actually has the CL-61A's with TW-25 tweeters, they sound really smooth, and I think they're in your budget.

If you can swing the Pioneers, go for it. Otherwise I'd go with the RSds. I've heard a lot more lack-luster review on the lower-line CDTs than I have on the RSds. The CDT EF-6FGs are supposed to be pretty decent though.

Just go active. Including the amp and active crossover, I've got about $500 in my active front stage. Keep an eye out for good deals and you can build something very nice on a fairly tight budget.
