cdt audio or focal?

im buying a new component setup this weekend and i need to know which is better sounding cdt or focal for the under $300 range. i was going to purchase them off woofersetc.com heres a link to both focal adn cdt

I've used the CDT HD stuff for about a decade and love it. but...next time around it's going to be Dynaudio. I was tempted to try the Focal stuff, as their amps are great! But decided to go with the best!

In the $300 price range...I'm not sure. I'm used to the higher end CDT stuff myself, and have never used Focal, but they do get great reviews! Everything sounds different to everyone...try and listen to them if you can first.

Focal and CDT are both great companies, i have owned both and basically the complaint i have with Focal is the alum tweeters are just way to harsh for my ears.

The CDT's have a silk tweeter that is much easier to listen to without making your ears cry.

For a $300 budget, I'd pick in this order:

1. Rainbow CMX 265's

2. Focal

3. CDT

You are just going to get alot of opinions on this one. We all like different things. These are things that I have heard and that have been said by people.

Focal's are great but the tweeter is on the harsh side. Some people have been able to EQ it to get it sound the way they like.

The Rainbows are very good right out of the box and I have seen no complaints about them from anyone. I had the Rainbow Profi and they where awsome.

The CDT's are almost a hate/love relationship. You either think they are great or you just don't like them.

I would try to listen to some of these. You can probably find a CDT/Focal dealer near you hopefully. The Rainbow will be a little more difficult. This is all my opinion.

Personal Preference always comes into play when buying speakers!!!!
