I am stuck trying to decide which of these 2 head units, the problem is I want to be able to run active, and I would like to be able to hook up a hard drive to the USB and get the CD's out of the car.
I looked on
Crutchfield, and to get what I want I would be looking at:
CDA-9887 - $399
KTX-100EQ - $249
KCA-620M - $99
Which works out at roughly $750, but I have heard nothing good about the KCA-620M. On the other hand I could get:
IDA-X100 - $349
PXA-H100 - $180
CHA-S634 - $299 (Optional)
Which comes out at $530, or if I really wanted to have the option of CD's $830. Obviously shopping around will get the prices of both down considerably. But, I have not read all that many positive reviews of using the X100 with an external hard drive. I dont own an iPod, and to be honest I don't really want one since I would never use it anywhere other than the car.
I don't want a Pioneer, the last one I had was fine, but I hated it. The only other option I can find is the Kenwood X991, but I can't use that as an active HU without an external processor.
So out of the 2 options above, which is the better choice? I have read through the X series thread on here, but can't find much input from people who have the CDA-9887 and the KCA-620M with an external hard drive.
I am also still tempted by a CDA-7998, but the pull of being able to put all my CD's on a hard drive is tough to resist. Any suggestions?
