Pioneer MVH-8200BT

Well I was planning on getting the CDA-117 until I saw that Pioneer just came out with the MVH-8200BT.

Here's my thoughts so far.

The Alpine has the 24-bit Burr-Brown DAC which is known to sound amazing.

The Alpine has time correction... does the pioneer? I can't tell if thats what they mean by "Sonic Control Center"..

I'm paranoid about thieves and the Alpine has the detachable faceplate.. the pioneer basically doesnt lol.

I'm hardcore about tweaking with the EQ and currently I have my 12.5 khz band at +12 db... with addition to my "Loud" on high so we are looking at +22db just for my treble, well the Alpine can only go up to +6 db, so it might sound dull to me, can anyone confirm this?

I can't remember the last time I've listened to a cd, but the pioneer doesnt have a cd player.

As far as cosmetics go, I'd be content with both.

I have the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB now, and I have high expectations for Alpine as far as sound quality goes, but with the EQ, I'm afraid its going to sound flat.

Lol, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Burr-Brown processor only used for CDs?

Why the hell would you max out your treble? Learn how to properly tune and you'll have PLENTY of all frequencies. The +6 could be = to +12 on another HU, you have to try to know.

Well hopefully they hook them up in store so I can get a hands on comparison. And sure I can hear plenty of all frequencies, but I like my cymbals to be shiny and crisp.

Alpine Type X refs? Lol, and its not tuning, it's just personal preference. Like when people say they like the EQ flat, I can't believe that. I've always had my EQs shaped similar to a V, it's something my dad always did when I was little and now I'm accustomed to it.

I'm telling you man. The tweets I've got in there right now, require NO EQ and you'll hear EVERYTHING.

Lol I can hear everything on flat, it's just personal preference that I like my treble up high. But I understand what youre saying about +6 on the Alpine could sound like +12 on the Pioneer. Even if they dont have them hooked up by next week, Ill go ahead and buy the Alpine first, if I dont like it after a week of tweakin, I'll go ahead and exchange it for the Pioneer.

I have an Alpine CDA 117 in both of my vehicles. Yes the 24 bit Burr Brown applies to the radio, USB, Satellite and CD Player. The EQ works well and there are 2 EQs (graphic equalizer and parametric equalizer). Everything good that you think about the CDA 117 exists. It also has the multi EQ function.

great sounding deck.. not much of an EQ but there loud feature works great..

thei haven't been impressed with pioneers units lately.. the sound dull and just didn't have the transparency i heard in the kenwood and eclipse.. alpine sounds good generally they make great units as well..

i don't think the type X ref has good tweeters.. there not close to highend.. also don't ever use EQ unless you know your sending a unclipped signal and the speaker isn't around its limits..

when i had my 780(PIONEER) i had to use the eq alot as well it sounded dull and lifeless, now i don't need a EQ with the x991, its so much more detailed above 10Khz.. you also migh look into alum dome tweeters as well

I've listened to metal tweeters, they are too harsh for me. But I would say the Type-X REF has nice tweeters, the only thing that I've listened to the compares to them is Rainbow SLX 265NGs. But as far as worrying about the EQ, I'll get the Alpine here shortly and give it a go.
