CD Review Thread

A few more of my favorites...

Mos Def - Black on Both Sides

Wow. I could leave this album on repeat all day. Mos Def flows like nothing else throughout its entirety. Great lyrics over great beats.

Fav song - Hip-Hop

5/5!

A Tribe Called Quest - The Anthology

ATCQ has seen great album after great album, though this collection not my favorite all around album from them, this is a brief overview of their decade of rule over hip-hop.

Fav Song: Can I Kick It //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

4/5

The Roots - Phrenology

The Roots were criticized alot for this album, fans felt they strayed from their identity, for me, being that this was my first ever Roots album, this is exactly who they are to me, and this is my personal favorite album of theirs. Black Thought is easily one of the most underated lyricists out there right now IMO.

Fav Song: Thought A Work

5/5!

Atmosphere - Headshots Se7en

Its actually a two disc set, including the original Headshots se7en 4 track album, first time ever released on CD. This one is definitly for Atmosphere fans only, someone new to these guys will probably not be too into this one, it includes stuff recorded from the beginning till somewhat recent, I believe. I've only been through the whole thing once so far, but I already know it will get lots of play time, great rap to chillax to.

Fav song- "The Jackpot/Swept Away"

5/5, to me atleast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Reel Big Fish- Why Do They Rock so Hard

Great ska rock CD. If you like the upbeat ska with a hint of Blink 182 perversion definatly check this CD out.

Best song- The kids dont like it, song #3, somebody hates me, I want your girlfriend to be my girlfriend.

Other RBF albums- Turn off the Radio, We're Not Happy, Everything Sucks

Over all 4/5

The Ataris-Blue skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits

Great Emo music that is a must listen for any girl problem. Not ashamed to say that this CD is a great break up Album.

Best song-Last Song I Will Ever Write About A Girl

Other Ataris' albums-Anywhere But Here, So Long, Astoria

Over all 4.5/5

The Faint-Wet From Birth

Great Industrial rock album, good band to have in your collection. "Wet from Birth" is an excellent example of classic Faint albums that many love.

Best song-Desperate Guys, Paranoiattack

Over all 3.75/5

Pinback-Self Titled

This may sound bad but this CD puts me to sleep, not in a boring shitty music way. The beats put me in a hypnotic trance that just amazes me everytime I put this CD in. Definatly pick this one up if you can find it.

Best song- Loro, Hurley

Over all 4.75/5

Pink Floyd - The Wall & Dark Side of the Moon

Favorite: enjoy as a whole

C'mon...you need to experience these in full. Turn the lights down, settle into a comfortable chair, and get into it.

Travis - The man who

for you brit rock fans. its great, nice and mellow. writing this makes me wanna listen to it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

4.5/5

Immortal technique - Revolutionary Vol. 2

i tink this is better than volume 1. Produced better, his rapping style has defenitely matured blah blah blah. This guy is brilliant. his rhymes are amazing, and he knows his stuff (sociogically, politically etc.). No matter how many times i listen to to the cd, i always smile when he flames rappers who "speculate what the f*ck pac would say" hehe. and the scarface themed "peruvian cocaine" where he uses the melody of the part in scarface when montana was in brazil (i think) doin deals within the beat. That "song you never know" is freakin sad, made me feel all depressed and stuff. although some of the beats on the cd are aite, his lyricism outshines everything on the cd.

5/5

BUMP, lets keep this one alive. I found a few Mathiew Good and Common sense CDs at CD warehouse, Gauntlet was right both are great albums. I did DL some of Charles Mingus' music cause I couldnt find it where I went, great jazz, I was definatly impressed.

The best place to find classic old jazz and classical music is at a university. Literally, I have burned dozens of CDs from the university's music library, and it only costs a quarter for the CDR. Charles Mingus is not someone who you can break into single songs; you have to get albums to truly enjoy what he is capable of.
