cd quality out of ipod?

so i finally tried connecting the ipod to my aux input and it sounded like arse. it was seriously horrible sounding, there was no clarity, no bass, no quality at all. i tried adjusting every single thing possible, but still does not even come close to cd quality. is there a fix for this? any ideas? thx!

eclipse 5425. i bought the aux cable. then connected it to a belkin ipod connector which connects to the earphone thing on the ipod.

hmm... I have an in-dash so it might be different for me. I just picked up a $6 RCA cord with a headphone jack for hte other end. Plugged the RCA's into the inputs the other end into my ipod and it sounds perfect. Exactly the same as my CD's

Turn the iPod down, and use the headunit's volume control instead.

what do you mean by in dash? mine is an in dash as well...well let me diagram better how it is connected. it might help.

HU-->aux cable-->rca w/earphone jack-->ipod = horrible quality. =(

DId you buy the belkin car adapter? If so, the belkin plugs into the bottom of the ipod and then you plug the aux cable into the belkin charger(which is in the cigarette lighter adapter) and then connect the aux cable to the analog in on the back of the eclipse. I used it for a long time, and the quality was great. The belkin introduces whining into the system thought, through the charger.

its impossible to get CD quality from an Ipod, it all depends on the MP3s bitrate at which it was encoded, usually about 128-256kbit.. although it usually wouldnt sound as bad as your describing, seems like a connection problem or something/

And also, check and see if the files are .mp3's or .mp4's. Not sure if that would make a difference either.

no my HU does not have an analog in. and i usually get pretty good bitrates when i dl music. i have something on my ipod that i have on cd. and the difference between them is like comparing virgin poon to brianna banks. like there is hardly any bass, the clarity just is not there. it sounds muffed is the best way i can describe it.

ipods handle other (lossless) formats than mp3, I'd assume thats what they are getting at.

is there wiring picking up any noise from electrical components near it? I know i've had problems with wiring being close to a charging source and picking up garbage noises
