does the wattage, etc.. in a new cd player matter when you have a system?

i have two 15in' kicker comps, and a 1100 directed d5 amp.

output voltage should be over 2 volts, higher the better, might need a line driver if not

Wattage? As in 15 watts, 50 watts, etc? No. That's just if your running full range speakers off the HU amps, which you shoudn't do, get a stereo or 4 channel amp to power them. Preamp volts out, yes, but only as long as they are above the minimum input limits of your amp, which they usually are. Usually 1.5 -2 volts is enough.

SO I'm guessing you went with the deal your friend was giving you? Hopefully everything is working. And i don't know what you mean by system...call them subs and an amp and no the speaker wattage output on a deck does not affect your subs. The pre out voltage however does. On alpines the lowest I have seen is 2V.
