cd player problems

i just recently installed a sony xplod 50 x 4 cd player into my 1993 dodge colt(it's a small car) and everytime i turn it up and it starts to put out heavy bass it just shuts off!! it will come back on but it will keep shutting off until i turn the music down!! whats the problem, did i wire something wrong!! help!!!!!!!!!
