I've had my sony xplod gt24 for like 5 years and now the fucker is skipping so hard sometimes it jumps to the next track. It NEVER did this before and now its doing it. Minor bumps on the road, bass turned up, whatever, it skips. WTF is wrong with it? The CD looks clean so it can't be that. It's well mounted and I can't feel any serious vibrations on the deck area when bass is playing at full blast.

Is it just on its way out or what? My HU has an AUX input for iPods and such but I've read that iPods reduce bass. What can I use with AUX input that does NOT reduce bass?

My aux seemed louder than my CD player, but i only use DVD's or MusicVid CD's. Aux sounds cleaner to me, must b my ears....But yea, UpGrade tht Sony bru.

I don't want to upgrade. The CD player has been working very well for years and would like to figure out why this is happening now and how to fix it.

if you dont want a quality player and want to stick with what ya got... it only needs a cleaning but that will run you close to a quality used deck if a clean kit wont work...
