CD Deck Barely Audible

I just installed a new deck in my car. It's a Pioneer. After fiddling with the wires for a while I got all four speakers playing. The BIG problem is: At max. volume on the CD player, the speakers (stock factory) only put out a slight whisper. I can barely hear the music and there doesn't seem to be any distortion but it's extremely quiet. I bought this unit used and I'm wondering if this sounds like the unit is at fault or if it's the wiring. The seller claimed that the Amplified output is broken but the pre-amp is fine. BTW: I'm still going through the factory fader.

if the amplified output is broken then how are you getting volume at all? you cant use the preamp outputs unless your are using an amp. also you need to bypass the factory fader switch
