Is that a Galaxy 99 I see sitting upside down in the pic?

And Pffft @ a Silver Eagle 200 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

The last mobile setup I ran was a RCI 2950 (modded to access 26mHz to 32mHz flat and modulate from a 2 watt deadkey swinging to 25 watts) driving a Texas Star V-plus madulator which in turn drove a modded Grey 300 which had new pills put in it to make 500w+

I could deadkey 2 watts and swing over 600 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It was LOUD!!

How much did you give for the Silver Eagle, though?

ballstothewall~

Most (not all but most) truckers are running considerably more than the maximum 4 watts allowed by the FCC so that's a really silly statement...

Thats a Galaxy DX959 there. Its peaked and tuned also. I DK at about 6 or 8 watts and swing to like 18.

And I paid nothing for the amp. It was my moms fiances.

I really only use my cb for trips though, so I dont need anything huge at all.

Indeed they are, but some have so much wattage on their CB setups that it is just stupid, I've found that those people mainly only spew garbage. Just my .02$

Fair enough.

I rarely used all of my available power - normally the only times I cranked it wide open were either when I was trying to shoot skip or if we were having a transmitter hunt locally. Those hunts required big power usage - you couldn't get away from it...

If properly tuned that radio can do around 30 watts barefoot. I'd recommend dropping the deadkey a little, say to around 4 watts, since your gonna use an amp. My $.02

Side note--anybody seen the new Galaxy 98VHP=sick freakin radio. We've setup a few now doing nearly 300 watts barefoot.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
