Magalo. I cant find very large laptop HDD's. Is ther any reason besides rough roads & space that i'd nee a laptop hdd I'd like to throw a 250gb sata hdd in mine instead of a laptop HDD.

There is no need to use laptop HDD's. I have been using a regular HDD since I the beginning, almost 2 years now. My hard drive literally sits on top of my sub enclosure, without any restraints. It bounces with every hit. never had a problem with it. It also runs fine in the cold, unless its below 10, even laptop HDD's won't do too well in those temps.

hmm maybe I was the only person who had a bad expierience with a full size hdd? mine would never boot up properely in cold and it couldnt handle the system too well either.

btw - I've never run anything but a full size drive and I've never once had an issue....3+ years now....I'm only on my second drive....mostly because I went from a 5400 rpm drive to a 7200 rpm drive...now with this new install I'm going SATA 3.0

going to go get some dinner and read up on this thread some!

Also. If i am going out of my motherboard into AUX input in my deck, do I need a really nice/expensive sound card? Or will i be fine with onboard sound.

you don't "need" a sound card. You can most definitely use the onboard sound, but if your looking for SQ, this will not be your best option.

Also, you'll be hard pressed to find an ITX motherboard (really small one) with optical out onboard. You could use a large motherboard but that takes extra power. A soundcard drop in can have the optical digital output for interfacing with external processing.
