Carputer 101

ok i have a couple questions. i dont know if you remember but i was trying to see if i could use an old imac that we dont use any more for my carputer.

well i was talking on mp3car.com and found out that the monitor is not hardwired into the videocard, which alot of people were telling me. so now i guess all i need now is a monitor and a power supply, but i need to know what kind of chord i need to connect the monitor into the mac. i take it i need some kind of vga adaptor, but not sure which kind (theres a bunch on apple.com).

also what frontends do people use for macs? and gps?
anyone have any feedback on this?

square I have never took the time to look for a flip out lcd. so I can't help u right now.

dud: there is a section mp3car for apple, they might can help you a lot more about frontends and gps. but i'll search when I can, right now I'm postin from my phone lol.

haha werd. yeah i've posted a couple threads in the apple section. it looks as if route 66 is the only gps available for the mac right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif from what people are running. and im not sure if there are any "real" front ends. i see a lot of people trying to develop something, but i cant find anything thats really available now.

Yep. I know this. When I take the non-flip route will be when I get my new head unit. I will ram a 10.4" in my dash, molded in of course. Until then, I really like how my dash looks with the flip. Its in my CarDomain. Take a look-see.

I got it in today, the way it was packaged, compared to my last, was VERY nice. I will take some pics tomorrow of how it was done, and a few others, possibly of the swap. My old monitor had a seperate VGA and USB cable, this one has 1 cable, THREADED, yes, screws together in back of the unit. WOW. I'll post new pics possibly. I'd have to make a new photobucket acct tho, the one i have has d@mn in the username, so it NEVER shows on this board. LMAO. I'll prolly link them to my CarDomain page.

AND WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THIS THREAD TO BE STICKIED?????
