carpet or paint....? please look

okay i am having a box built. the port will be painted BRIGHT red....i was thinking of getting the box painted black and then splatter painting the box with different colors and mayve glow in the dark paint. but the guy building the box says black carpet is a better idea because t wont scratch like a painted box. so pretty much i dont know what to do...i like the splatter paint idea but just not tooo sure.....input please!

okay so yes if its painted i would show it off like "look at this shit" but if its just carpet id be like "take a look at my sub" not my sub and box....

most people i build for like the paint. you have to do good woodworking from the start to paint though. the tighter the box goes together, the easier it is to sand and paint.

well i dont mind if its not shiny and what not. i just want it black with bright crazy colors splattered on it. do you think it will look bad or should i just do carpet?
