1/3 of NFL owners are in Forbes wealthiest people in America. Their NFL franchises aren't their main source of revenue, more like a very expensive & valuable hobby. But yes, money has a lot to do with it & why wouldn't they threaten with a lockout? They have all the leverage. It's just a big plublicity stunt, the NFLPA will make a deal sooner or later, no way the players sit out a year. Sure some of the stars can afford to sit out, but the majority of those guys rely on those checks, that come game by game, to maintain their lifestyle. And also, the lifespan of an NFL career is short, no way they sit out a year. It wouldn't hurt the owners at all. Besides maybe Green Bay. lol

Tony Parker is only 30 or so, Ginobili/Duncan are about Kobe's age. Parker is also argueably themost underrated player in the league. Very few teams have the talent SA has top to bottom. It's suprising how dominant they've been, but I don't think it's a shock they have the best record.

I saw a report that 85% of NFL players rely on those game to game checks to maintaintheir income/lifestyle. Also, look how short & fragile an NFL career is, no way hey let the NFLPA shorten or diminish a full years salary. It's sad how much the owners are pushing too, though.
