Carfax vehicle reports are only as reliable as the actual owner of the car. If something happens that the owner does not want to report to the dealer, then it will never show up in the carfax vehicle report. Do not use that as your ONLY tool for researching a vehicle.

i checked out the car in person already and talked with the owner for about an hour. As far as i can tell he is very trustworthy.
