it's a pain, but you could use a sound card recorder. i've used messer, which is free. it's more of a pain than just using a torrent program and downloading it.

It's an mp3 player just like every other mp3 player out there. If you know what you're doing, you can find the hidden files and just drag and drop.

There are also dozens of free programs that will do this for you. Google.

I've used it many times when I had to reformat my HD and didn't feel like burning the songs. Just kept them on the ipod then transferred them back when I was done.

How many songs do you have? I think the free version only transfers like 5 at a time or something like that. It was a pain, but I was too lazy to search for the key.

p.s. theirs a way on itunes to do it if it's an older ipod. (not a touch or iphone). Search in itunes somehting like "removable hard drive" or something.

may work, but im thinking more like i want all the songs on a buddies ipod 30 gig normal one ya know they transfer to my comuter from his ipod and not just stay in itunes but i can keep them on my harddrive as music files and so i can have them on my computer free to move them around and such
