hey guys i recently added a 500/1 mono amp and a JL W7 to car with a 1.5 farad cap, i was just sitting in my car one day listening to music when all of a sudden my bass just went off. i checked all of my connections and everything was fine...it was night so i said to myself that i would just check it in the morning...i tried to start my car but it would start, but everything electrical, other than my subs, were working!! my friend told me that maybe it was just my starter kill on my alarm, so i armed and disarmed my alarm and.....SURPRISE it started. However today when i went to turn on my car, it didnt start yet everything was ON!! my friend had to come and jump me....have any of you guys ever had this problem!?!?!?

my car was off and i was playing music....if i dont have a cap then my sub wont even play....it would just cut in and out. a cap has actually helped me to solve that problem

Sounds to me like you have some serious electrical problems if your sub wont play without a cap. Have you tested the battery? or alternator?

yea...my friend just told me that i might need a battery since ive never replaced it...he's saying that an optima should work alright. also what other problems do you guys think might be wrong with my car? Since you guys are saying my electrical system sounds messed up

charge ur batt

if so might wanna check ur car fuse box see if u popped any fuses for ur car

check remote wire...amp might be staying on

Could be a bad battery or even corrosion on the terminals

Could be alt goin bad...get it tested at any autozone or pepboys

yes that seems to be the case, everything else works. even my 4-channel comes on and my speakers play. but my car has a hard time coming on....imma change my battery cause your 8th person who's said that that may be the problem. my fuses are good that was the 1st thing i checked. also anybody know where i could get like an optima battery for a decent price (sorry broke college student)

your battery is probably going bad so replace it with a decent one and maybe think of a second battery for the rear but with that amp i don't think you will really need a HO alternator... and yea capacitors are pretty much pointless for a daily driver
