And you didn't change it? The first day I had the Integra home, I changed the oil..

It's most likely a spun bearing. Repairs would cost more than replacing the car most likely.

meh....if it wasn't run very long with this happening it shouldn't be a total loss

should be around $60 for a set of mains

And he doesn't know anything about cars...

It would have to go to a shop, and for them to rip into the motor, they'll **** him on labor.

mmm....good point...maybe he should invest in a haynes and read cover to cover...

they have step by step instructions on how to do it (motor dependent) and the books are like $15

maybe far fetched though as it depends on the person

got the car like 3 months ago. and there were new tires new alt. and belts + fluids changed less than 250 miles before i got it. and i put like 2k + on it

Doesn't sound good, regardless a shop is going to charge way too much. I would guess spun bearing or a cracked/broken rod.

How much do you like the car? Besides what it needs for inspection, what kind of shape is it in?

Depending on that, it may be cheaper to get a junkyard engine put in. Probably a couple hundred bucks..

Yeah, it's old and a lot of money but look at it this way. If you're putting less into it a month then you would be a new car car payment, and its good and dependable you are still coming out ahead.

I live in avalon/ west view area

and the car is an 89. needs body work new headlight/ turn signal light before inspection.

I like the car but would rather something more reliable.

the car was reliable but due to age and this problem. Id rather not get a new engine or put hundred into now. and a couple hundred when inspected.

Might be worthwhile throwing it on craigslist as is or for parts.

I just listened to the video at home (better speakers) and almost sounds like a cracked flexplate/missing bolts..

Does the sound change when you put it in gear with the engine idling?

did not try to put in gear. it is automatic. will try tomorrow. When i started yesterday alot of smoke was coming out of exhaust though
