Car Subwoofers inside

I've seen many people hook up a single sub to their computer for the extra punch. I've been thinking about doing this for awhile, but have a few questions.

#1-Can a car subwoofer be hooked up to a regular desktop type stereo (2 speakers, cd player, dual tape player type setup? If so, how is this done?

#2-If it cant be hooked up to a home stereo, how do I go about hooking it up to my computer? Thanks.

By getting an amplifier for the subwoofer and connecting that amplifier to the system.

Again, you'd need an amplifier and run the line-out from your soundcard to the input of that amplifier.
