Car Stereo does not work when car engine turned on

Hi all,

I have a strange issue. I have a Clarion ADX5655z car stereo. Recently, I have noticed that the CD player on this system does not play when the car engine is running. When I turn off the car engine but turn the key enough to activate the battery, the player plays without any issues. This strange problem is only for the CD player. This system has a Cassetter player and AM/FM tuner which function properly without any issues all the time.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to how I can debug this issue and hopefully fix it? Does anyone know how to reset this system? I do not have a manual for this player to refer to.

You don't see a reset button anywhere? I wouldn't know where to tell you to look for it on that particular unit, but you should be able to find a little reset button that you press with a thin rod.

The reset button should be located right under the big knob on the right.

Hi guys,

First of all, Thank you for your prompt replies. I could not find the reset button anywhere on the Clarion ADX5655z system. I tried looking on Clarion website for the way to reset this system but invain. I am not able to understand what the engine running has to do with the stereo. By the way, the display is good and is stuck on where it was left off. For example, if I had played the CD with engine off until 1 min 15 sec on a track, and when I turn the engine on, It reads 1:15 and does not advance forward.

Please help guys..

Hi guys,

I did reset the system (I could not see the reset button earlier, it was so small). There is no difference in the behavior. Today I bought a CD cleaner and I inserted that CD and ran it for a few mins, I know that might not be the issue, but just wanted to give it a try.
