Car Question

I think it may be a ticking sound. When mine went on me, it shot out and actually made a dent in my hood. Was in a 85 300zx and pretty much was the end of that car. Wanted 3200 bucks to pretty much replace my eng. being they found all othe kind of shit wrong.

Hope your luck was better than mine, cause I ended up using that car for parts and then sold the body for 200 bucks, lol! 4000gs down the drain in less than a year.

A ticking sound is exactly what it is. And this guy is telling me it's on it's last legs and an engine swap would be easier an cheaper. this a GSR btw

And the car is also idleing at around 1500rpms. was fine all yesterday and then this happens.

Don't know how to go about fixing this. Is it that hard to replace the rods?

It's different on every car. Some you have to pull the engine, some you can drop the oil pan and fix it. Go easy on it. You prolly spun a bearing and will throw a rod soon if you keep running it. And when it does toss the rod, most times the engine is toast.

Yea that's pretty much what I've heard so far. I haven't ran the car since this happened...hopefully the engine isn't toast. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

If you spun a bearing...Depending how long the bearing was going bad but when it does, metal pieces will come off and hurt other engine components. Either way you are looking at quite a big job or your just shit outta luck.

Btw, If you keep running it sooner or later the bearing is going to completely fail.

Wow that sucks..... ticking is def. a sign.....

my last mustang, i dragged it.... one day at the track i decided to spray a bigger jet (yes naaaawzzzzz) being my motor what ready to let go (high miles). I spun a bearing and threw 2 rods at the 1/8mile point..... NASTY sound, like a **** machine gun was let loose in my engine bay. Not to mention i had a hole the size of a silver dollar on 1 side, and another hole the size of a baseball //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif in the other side of my block //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

best idea for you... do a swap, find something used, rebuilt, or possibly OEM New.

I am no eng expert by any means, but if its a GSR and you have to replace eng, then its gonna cost ya. Sorry bout your luck. What year is it?
