Do you even need a head unit?

Otherwise, all you're using the PC for is the hard drive...sort of a waste.

The advantages of a PC is custom control over the interface, ability to upgrade DACs separately, unlimited signal processing ability...

ok started to read the sticky. i have a computer laying around. but im buying a laptop soon for school. the only place i have room for the computer is the trunk, but laptop i could hook it up way front. which should i use?

just disect the desktop and do a build similar to the stickey then put like a 8in monitor in your dash, if its a touch screen that would be awesome to use with alot of up grade capabilities
