Car Navigation Disc Question

I have a Clarion DVD Head Unit and I'm wondering if I go out and buy, say from Ebay, a disc with navigational maps on it, will that work in the same way....Google Maps or Yahoo Maps would, or would I have to get the system from Clarion. I know there would be no GPS, so the I wouldn't get audio directions and all that, but it's just an alternative to an actual paper map.
