Car Idle turns off my head unit

Ok, this question for all you electrical guys out there,

I installed a new head unit in my old Diesel Mercedes Benz from the 80s. It works great except for when the rpms are below 1k it just turns off and wont come back on unless I rev the engine or start moving again.

Does anyone have any ideas why the head unit turns off?

your alternator may be weak and the volts dropping...which is shutting the radio down....maybe its just a loose alt. belt...or bad regulator....

badd battery isnt charging and goes below 11 volts?
