car dead after headunit install =[

i just completed my first headunit install

on my '03 nissan sentra and everything

seemed fine, my headunit powered up fine

and sounded great. However, when my

engine wouldn't start so I jumped it and

drove around to get it to recharge some

juice. After about 10 minutes my whole

dash's electricity turned on and off and my headunit

reset. Then my engine shut down and I had to

pull over to the side of the road. My engine then

wouldn't turn on and I had to jump it again to bring

it back home. Could this be due to improper grounding

(perhaps the metal i attached my ground wire to

wasn't attached to the chassis?) or could it just

be that my battery is dead and I need to replace it.

What should i do? Thanks!

by the way my car has around 92000 miles on it.

Did you unhook the negative terminal on your battery when you were installing the head unit?

Some cards require that you let hook them terminal back up, crank your car, and let it sit and idle for like 15 minutes so the ECU resets itself.

That may not be the case at all tho, but it's worth a shot.

i unhooked my negative cable and then

rehooked it afterwards. The thing is i couldnt

get it on as tight as it was before I took it off.

Think that could be the problem? I thought my

battery had just died. As for letting my car idle for

15 minutes I don't know if it can last that long, ahha

Your negative battery terminal needs to be tighter, Connect your postive and negative, again, charge it, drive it for a good hour, because 10 minutes does jack. Then see

i wonder if your alt could be dieing and if so that could be causing the battery to drain.... hmmm just an idea... maybe you should take it to autozone and have them test it out

thanks guys, yeah i guess my headunit install was okay

but what i did to the battery during that time probably drained

it completely or something. I just took it to the shop and the guy

thinks its the same thing. we'll see. thanks!
