so a class A amp wouldn't be good for subsOriginally posted by 80_Cutlass_mn To run subs it is excellent but you can only run subs with them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
true, but who buys a 600 watt mono amp to power their speakers? that's a junkload of power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gifOriginally posted by ftgu Ummmmmmmmmm.....maybe not if your gonna run highs off of it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Class A amps can be used, but they aren't nearly as efficient as Class D amps...D are about 80% and A is about 60%. Class A amps send higher frequencies, class D's send low frequencies, which is why they are more efficient, i think so?Originally posted by joesf so a class A amp wouldn't be good for subs
if you run parallel with the shivas the 600.1 JBL would be perfectOriginally posted by violator5spd true, but who buys a 600 watt mono amp to power their speakers? that's a junkload of power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
Actually any amp that can put out enough power to power subs is good but it all has to do with efficiency. Class D amps are good for subs cuz they cant play high frequencies but are extremely efficient at what they do, about 80% or higher for a Class D amp, but a Class A amp is only about 10-20% effiecient cuzz they draw max current all the time no matter if they are playing music or not. Thats just a quick view of it, but there is alot more ot than that.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifOriginally posted by joesf so a class A amp wouldn't be good for subs
Youre wrong about the efficiency, a class AB amp will have about a 60% efficiency rating but Class A are about 10-20% cuz they draw max current whether there is a signal or not, but they are very clear and have the lowest THD's and have the highest signal to noise ratiosOriginally posted by violator5spd Class A amps can be used, but they aren't nearly as efficient as Class D amps...D are about 80% and A is about 60%.
