Caps

Caps have their place. Most people try to use them for the wrong reasons, like keeping lights from dimming. Bottom line is that better wiring and / or electrical system will do anyhing a cap can do and do it better. Whether a cap is a cost-effective alternative or not is one of the hottest debates on car audio forums.

There is one application for caps in car audio, and one only. They deliver instant power to the amps when they try to draw more than the alternator/battery can send. Caps are quick charge/discharge batteries, nothing more. once the electrical system is made to keep up with the draw, then you can add caps to meat the instantanious needs of your amps, caps where never designed to relive stress on your electrical system or fix dimming lights, the reality is they put more stress on the electrical system. Thats the only use for them, i would never put one on a system to do antyhing other than what was mentioned.

you dont need a cap, you need a new or rewound (like someone else suggested) alternator.....I dont mess around with rewinding them, I suggest just upping the stock one.
