caps vs batcaps version 60000

Right now i have 2 1.2 farad capacitors hooked up to my system, and they work wonders, honestly.

My lights didn't dim without them, and i have plenty electrical upgrades to support my system, but the caps definitely increase the snap-on authority of a hard driving beat.

They don't make my system LOUDER, per se, but they just make that inital punch in the face of a bass note black and white, vs. gray, if that makes sense? The amp goes from 0 to 100% volume instantly, where wihtout the caps, i definitely notice a slight delay, which sounds downright mushy to me. It's my first subwoofer amp that didn't have a regulated power input (my last amp was a lanzar opti 2000D, so that's what i'm used to)

Anyways, the 1.2 farad caps help for a bit, but after a long drawn out bass attack, where they don't get a chance to recharge, the next quick attack is mushy again, so i need MORE CAPACITORZ!

Someone told me to get true benefit of caps, 1 farad per 200w rms is ideal, so i've been looking at a few different models.

As far as regular solid caps go, i've been looking at the rockford fosgate 25F model, as well as the tsunami 20F model, and the lanzar 20F and 100F models.

AND i've been looking at batcaps, which promise outrageous levels of capacitance, but i have a sinking suspician they're more affective as a 2nd battery than a true capacitor, stopping voltage drops, but not necessarily force feeding my unregulated power supply driven amp LOADS of raw amperage at the drop of a hat......

So i wanted to hear some feedback from people who have used batcaps whether they're as affective as regular capacitors or not.

The price looks sexy, but i have a feeling it's not what i'm looking for, althought they claim it is, so i'm confoosed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Anyone that can help me sort this out would be MUCH appreciated!!!

Thanks guys.

And Question #2 is, do caps have any effectiveness with an amplifier that has a regualted power supply?

I'm planning to upgrade my hifonics bxi2006d at some point with an orion 2500D, which of course, uses a regulated power supply, so there will be no mush, only complete destruction of my electrical system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Are my capacitors going to be completely obsolete when i upgrade my amp? Or is there still a beenfit of using them with a regulated amplifier?

Because if i was going to end up spending another $300 to properly force feed full power into my hifonics' mushy power supply, i'd just as well spend a few extra $ and get a WCC 5000D...................

the batcaps are more like a batterie that acts like a cap it can shoot the amp the current it needs just as fast a refular cap but can sastane a the voltage like a battery the batcap would be the way to go man.

I will say this I could cair less about one persons test that were done several years ago on the amps he builds himself with huge power suplies in them that don't rely need a cap to start with, I know from my personal exsperences that a cap will help a non regulated amp not a lot but it helps, I know it won't help the amp put out more power but the job of a cap is to drain when the amp needs the current it is there to give it, but once the cap is drained the cap has to recharge itself. A batcap is a small battery that is desined to give current as fast as a cap will, a battery can only discharge current so fast per second wile a batcap or just a cap can do like several times that in that one second and the batcap itself will stay charged like a battery untill it is draind wile on the otherhand a regular cap starts to drain wants its unhooked from the car or its power or ground supply. OH and by the way I have tryed it both without a cap and with a cap and it helped a little on the voltage drop at the amp but when I put the batcap 800's in there it was a night and day difference between no batcap and a batcap, I am running a autotek mm4000.1d and I can blow 400 amps of fuse power at .25 on just battery power without the batcaps but with the batcaps it holds that kind of current perfectly and my 1/0's are no longer than 2 feet from the batteries to the amps so don't tell me I don't know what I am talkin about man. lolol

dude just get a high output alternator with 2 optima yellowtops or something. why so many caps.

already have 2 batts and a 240A alternator, capacitors and batteries don't do the same thing.

I know what i need, i just need to know if batcaps are as fast as a real capacitor or not, and whether a capacitor's capacity changes with voltage....

I see a lot of 20/25/50/100 Farad capacitors rated @ 16v-24v, and i didn't know if capacity changes with lower voltages... Eg.; maybe a 100F @24v cap can only hold 2F @ 14.4v, i have no clue, anyone know?

I read it,it has lots of useful information. but i have a question. on the picture diagram it shows the cap is between the alt and bat and not the bat and amp? If i ever where to get a cap which i doubt would it be more beneficial to put it between the alt and bat or bat and amp?

Lots of people told me you need to have it between the battery and the amp, but i know my stinger wiring kit just had a distrobution block to wire the caps up... as in 4 gauge in, 4 gauge out to the cap, and 4 gauge out to the amp....

Everything in your electrical system is wired in parallel. Having it between the battery and the alt is the same electrically as having it between the battery and the amp.

1F is 1F. The ammount of charge stored in the cap is determined by the capacitance and the voltage. The capacitance is a constant, but the cap will store more charge at a higher voltage. The voltage rating only tells you how much voltage the cap can handle without being damaged.
