Right now i have 2 1.2 farad capacitors hooked up to my system, and they work wonders, honestly.
My lights didn't dim without them, and i have plenty electrical upgrades to support my system, but the caps definitely increase the snap-on authority of a hard driving beat.
They don't make my system LOUDER, per se, but they just make that inital punch in the face of a bass note black and white, vs. gray, if that makes sense? The amp goes from 0 to 100% volume instantly, where wihtout the caps, i definitely notice a slight delay, which sounds downright mushy to me. It's my first subwoofer amp that didn't have a regulated power input (my last amp was a lanzar opti 2000D, so that's what i'm used to)
Anyways, the 1.2 farad caps help for a bit, but after a long drawn out bass attack, where they don't get a chance to recharge, the next quick attack is mushy again, so i need MORE CAPACITORZ!
Someone told me to get true benefit of caps, 1 farad per 200w rms is ideal, so i've been looking at a few different models.
As far as regular solid caps go, i've been looking at the rockford fosgate 25F model, as well as the tsunami 20F model, and the lanzar 20F and 100F models.
AND i've been looking at batcaps, which promise outrageous levels of capacitance, but i have a sinking suspician they're more affective as a 2nd battery than a true capacitor, stopping voltage drops, but not necessarily force feeding my unregulated power supply driven amp LOADS of raw amperage at the drop of a hat......
So i wanted to hear some feedback from people who have used batcaps whether they're as affective as regular capacitors or not.
The price looks sexy, but i have a feeling it's not what i'm looking for, althought they claim it is, so i'm confoosed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Anyone that can help me sort this out would be MUCH appreciated!!!
Thanks guys.
