Capacitor

it's a voltage reader.. the only way to increase the voltage going to ur amp is to increase the voltage of your car's electrical system. to do this, do the big 3, new battery, new alt.
Close - but no cigar. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif The voltage regulator which may or may not be built into your vehicles alternator is solely responsible for the average voltage produced by the alternator.

Well swing and a miss for you, too.

The Big 3 can increase the power to the rest of the car by minimizing losses do to resistance. It won't increase the voltage that the alt puts out, but it may well make more of it available for use.

Changing the alt, which he also mentioned, can also increase the voltage, since most alts today are internally regulated.

Most factory electronics will fry with 15+v, so if you did raise the entire system at the alty, you'd need to step it down for the accessories cable leading to the car. Your starter and your system would be happy, tho.

True, but if his factory alt is regulated to 13.5V and he gets an alternator regulated to something higher than that like around 14.4V (standard for some vehicles, and safe for the vehicle's electronics) he will get a boost without worrying about the rest of the car's electrcial system.
