Capacitor?

basically it stores up current so it can release at an instant, and only for an instant. it only puts out enough current to last for a second at most, then must recharge. that comes in handy if your electrical system is up to the task because on heavy bass notes, your electrical system maybe a little slow in delivering that current, but the cap can deliver that little bit of current instantly, while your electrical system catches up, making the music smoother and less muddy
