Caps are not useless! As far as dimming goes, yes they are useless. They help maintain voltage (not amperage), and filter out AC ripple. When your supply goes below rated voltage it causes heat, heat causes fried amps, clipped signals, and blown speakers. For those of you using cheap quality amps, caps help to clean up your supply voltage. A cleaner supply = a cleaner output. Most people don't know that a lot of subs blow because of the low frequencies (3-10 hertz) found in background noise.

but in your case i think that you only have to upgrade your battery and your wiring
