guys i am running an alpine type r 12 through a pdx1.600 and my amp turns off at times when i am close to the max volume ... i have a new car battery and from where i come from this is the best i can get ... someone suggested that i use a capacitor ... will that really help? does a capacitor really improve performance ... if so then do i really need a good brand one or lower priced ones will do the trick? (i got a pretty good deal on 4 farad capacitor) ... thanks ...

You really should not have any issue only running 600 rms.Your amp is shutting off because your clipping the sh!t out of it .
This.

I've only got 1000W RMS max and I have no issues. I've done the "Big 3" and replaced my OEM AC Delco battery with a Kinteik HC2000. I may add another HC2000 as I have the space under the hood, but what I have now is fine. I agree that I think you need to back the gain down, a lot!

Lol I just find it hard to believe this thread is serious. The most recent cap thread was the top thread until he posted this question.... but I'll save him the trouble of reading through it.

The general consensus is that since capacitors produce their own magical energy that they are the cure-all for all automotive problems including improving fuel economy.

Why are you still trolling? Your post in this thread is not even relevent.Seriously no one wants to listen to you,You really come off as a know it all *** from behind your computer,I won't sit here and tell you what you say about caps is wrong because i'm sure your knowlage of the subject is much greater than mine but your sh!tty attitude has already made you many enimies from the forum already.GTFO

Yes I can't spell go ahead and bash my grammer I've been hit in the head alot in life I can't remember 3rd grade grammer so well anymore.

This is why I come off the way I do. People like you attack me. I wish I cared if I had online enemies... honestly I don't care if you like me or not. Also, I don't really need to say anything negative. You put yourself down so much in your post that there is absolutely no need.

I would suggest doing the big 3 as well and if you can't get a battery locally Im sure someone on here has a small battery they would sell you. Check out the classifieds and see what you can find. Something like the kinetik mentioned above will fix your problem if a lack of voltage is your problem. I would also suggest getting a DMM and checking to see what your voltage is like when playing the system.

Again, he has to break out the DMM, take some measurements and go from there. It still sounds as though he has the gain set way to high on the amp, or that there is a voltage problem. Could be the sub itself as well. A DMM will go a long way to determining where the issue is.

I have an Alpine PDX 1.600 for my 2 subs and my gain is pretty much cranked full as well, but my HU output is set accordingly and I don't crank my system much over volume 21 (CDA-9887 volume range is 0 to 35)....21 or higher in my truck is pretty dang loud.

ok here's my scene ... both my car and my battery are new ... my system is wired according to the 'big 3' suggestions and i believe the wires i used are good for the job ... i previously used to jbl gtos (600 rms total) through the same amp and head unit (cde 9884) ... but the amp turned off when the volume went above 30 during some 'heavy bass' songs ... my amp gain was around 75% and i still have it the same way with my new type r but since it's still in the 'breaking in' period, i am not pushing the volume that high ... so far its fine ... so any problem i had during the time when i ran the gtos and that's why i was curious abt the capacitor ... changing the alternator is not an option in this part of the world ... well looks like i'll have to wait for 2 more weeks and then try playing the type r at high volume ...

can anyone suggest a decent gain setting for the amp and bass level setting for the head unit?

You are both gay... who argues on a forum... just stfu. And I agree.. adjust your settings

Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics .... even if you win you're still retarded //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
