CAP question

Ok simple question i think. But they say it would be recommened for you to use a 1.0 fared cap for systems 1000w. Is it 1000Rms or max total power. Because i think mine is more like 1500RMS and a total of 3000Max. (3 Punch hx2 12) so exactly how many caps would u recommend?

I've heard it is 1000 max, which sounds right, (500 RMS).

For you, you could get either one 3 farad, or 3 one farads (or a combination), which evers cheaper and easier.

Of course it never hurts to go over that amount

As a general rule that is correct. But if you have severe dimming. Or If your car gets to the point that the lights start flashing. You need more than a cap. A cap will do more harm than good. A capacitor has to recharged by your alternator. Thus putting more stress on an already strained electrical system.
