Cap Or Alternator???

what would be better to get and use I will be running 2400 watts and drawing up around 150 amps. the lights will dim, so how do I stop it???

Cap or Alternator which would help the most????

A cap will do absolutely nothing in your situation. A bigger alternator is the only option you have.

*sigh*... No, caps are not worthless. But they won't help with this sort of problem. They are a good supplement to a good charging system. They are NOT a fix for a weak one. The only reason everyone thinks they are worthless is because they're trying to use them for the latter, and of course, they don't help.

...but if the alt is strong enough, then there's no reason to HAVE a cap in the first place.

Anyhow, i've talked to both, "Dom" of Iraggi alternators and Jose of H-O alternators (www.h-o-alternators.com)

do remember to change your batt as well, else the dimming might just continue.

There's never a "need" to have a cap. But there is always "reason" to have a cap. Less current draw, and thus more voltage at the amp, during peaks - resulting in less stress on the charging system and the amp. All good things. Anti-hype is a good thing - but this whole "Caps are evil" bit is silly. Caps are wonderful little items that have a bad reputation because idiots try to use them to make up for a weak charging system.
