Since i trade my dual tc-9 twelve inch and my brutus 2006d amp i can't get loud at all. I use to run 2k to a pair of twelve and hit 145 on my epic160, but since i got my new dc alt, my new mtx te4001d and two different sub setup, they won't get half as loud as what i had prior. that really sucks!!!!

i had

-pair of aq sd2.5 15 inch in 6.5 net @36 on 2k , result were around 142 db

-pair of tc-9 in 4net @28hz on that same 2k, i was up to 143 and it was sounding real good

-then on a 5k amp (but with shitty electrical ) i was up to 145...

-new alt make the amp blow (unregulated voltage... my mistake on alt wiring) so i went with the mtx te4001d, on a pair of omega 12, i was down to 136-137 and that wasn't sounding that good

-Now i just installed two 15inch xcon on that same amp, i'm doing 139, but it doesn't sound as good as it should imo....

what's wrong??? i would first think it's the amp, but since the voltage drop from 15v to 11v on full tilt, it draw some current. Maybe it's the alt, but voltage drop wouldn't cost me that much db isn't it???

there's not processing before the sub amp, playing full range till the amp then ssf at 25hz and lpf 80hz... what could be wrong. oh yeah two lastest boxes use the same design as those when i was hitting alot more...

maybe it's just my epic and a placebo effect, but it was constant prior to this... and it really doesn't sound as loud as before

what should i check beside that?

LOL, I was talking to a guy the other day who used to have an Epic 160. He was telling me how nothing hits as hard and how an epicenter should be a part of everyones setup (hes an oldschool guy). Having 6v preouts I didnt quite understand but I think he has a point. Get you another line driver before you get sick from withdrawls. Also the battery should help quite a bit if youre going to 11v, it will make a difference, but definitely think its your line driver that youre missin

well the signal ain't going through the epic, i'm only using it as a meter.... but i didn't see any difference with it when processing was off... i 'll hook it up again soon i think....

i should have the potentiel for around that with my equipment... 139 is pathetic

is it normal that the alt doesn't produce alot of current at iddle, it works great at 2k rpm+ , but otherwise it just seems as weak as the stock i had. btw it's an 250amp alt / 110 iddle (doesn't seem right to me)...

Yeah thats right, some alts will put out a ton at low RPMs but for instance i have a 140 and it puts out 75-80 idle and 140 at 2k+ . If the epicenter isnt doing anything for you i think youre doing something wrong, try tuning everything with the processor off and then turning that little knob.

box is now fully braced and it sounds better, but still is as quiet. i think it lacks detail in the bottom so i'll drop the tuning down to 28 and change the 10inch sono for an 8inch one.... too boomy for me

What is boomy? Is it a long rumble? Mine sounds really good and the side mirrors shake soo bad that I can't see other lanes lol. I got 3 subs and 2 amps.

sounds like your box is to big, also 15s are far less musical than 12s, also how is the linear excursion compared to the 15s?

box can't be too big, well it's more on the short side... i'd say the lowest note pretty much all sound the same... it's there no doubt, but not as detailed as with my tc-9. I'll drop the tuning for sure, i'm sure it will help alot

some songs like "go hard" (swept from the low 20ish to low 30ish)from rihanna lastest album sounded so much more with the tc-9... but they were in the optimal box and my current subs are on the short side...

otherwise i'm starting to really love them, they are sharp over a wide range for sure

they sound nicely, just don't get that loud.... it might be still pretty ****ing loud for most of the people, but not enough for me. i need to get a tl number this summer, i can't be under 140 for sure
