Canada VS USA

I live in BC Canada ( westcoast ) and i was wondering why the prices of some of the car audio equipment is much lower in the us than here in canada.... I have come across multiple drivers,, ie type r's, mtx 9500's, rf, re, dd audio and so on.... How can Canadian order thru us avenues as apposed to direct here in canada..... do we actually lower costs that way are do we pay it up in duty when it is shipped...... help me out

Even with all that taken into consideration.... us based products are still cheaper....ie.... MTX 9500 15" retails here for 999.99 cdn with taxes add about 150 so 1150 per driver... in the us i have seen them run at 699.. and even with shipping and exchange they still run about 850

Pay $700 + tax for the driver down in the US.

Pay $35 to ship it.

Pay duty and tax on $735 USD at the border.

$735 USD = $847 CAD. $847 x 14% (7% PST for BC, 7% GST)

= $965 CAD.

Small shops can't afford to bring in pallets of drivers.

I feel your pain. I haven't bought anything locally. All either personal adds from different forums or ebay. The local shops around here are in business to make money and support themselves, which is understandable. But no way am I gonna pay 2-3 times the cost when I can get it cheaper somewhere else. You do have to be patient while you find what you want. For the gear I am getting now it would have cost me about $6000 Cad or more + taxes to buy locally without a head unit. I'm at about $2000 for the stuff listed in my sig, 4 amps, 4 subs (2 12's + 2 6's), and comps.
