Can you tune lower than rated? (Sub & Box)

if the sub's specs for a ported box tuning is rated at 32hz, would it be safe to go lower, ex. 27-28hz? or wouldn't be a good idea? thanks

depends on many things .... tune it where you like, make sure the sub can handle it though. And keep port noise in check. And it is always good to know where your vehicle resonates too ...
