Can you put a pair of 1/2 DIN items in a 1DIN opening?

So, this is a newb question, I guess...

...but the title says it all, can you put a pair of 1/2 DIN items in a 1DIN opening? My Mustang has a DIN tuner up top, and a DIN CDP below that in a separate 1DIN opening. I was hoping, when I replaced the Tuner portion with the Clarion on its way from Crutchfield, I could look around and find a couple 1/2 DIN accessory units and put them in that section.

Hopefully someone knows, definitively, if a 1/2 DIN item needs a single 1/2 DIN opening, or if you can just stack a pair of them into a full 1DIN opening.

Thanks guys.

Yes.

May take a little test fitting though, only problem I forsee is it not looking the greatest due to lack of room for teh trim peices on teh front.

try to find the exact dimensions of each unit.
Well that would be tough, seeing as how I haven't figured out which they might be. I was thinking a parametric EQ and a line driver, or some such combo. I might fork over for a single 1DIN "processor" with a nice display and user interface. I don't know, might be a budget buster vs a pair of 1/2 DIN units with a few knobs each.

That is good news. I can fab a trim piece, if needed. Sweet.

Thanks guys!

thats what im saying, before you buy research and try to find the exact dimensions. no sense in trying to dqueeze something in there. why not just get another DIN equalizer or something instead of trying to do 2. Are you doing this because you can, or out of necessity is the question.

Yeah, while I am in there, I will take measurements, see what I am working with. Measuring equipment before I buy will be an issue, since it will likely be off the Internet.

Oh, and it would be because I could, if I can. No necessity involved. Mostly boredom. And a big fat raise. >15.5%, actually. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

With the right saw and fiberglass, you can make anything fit.
I am starting to realize this...

Need to rack up some fiberglass experience first, though. Trying to figure out some little project where it doesn't matter if I make it or not (or if I screw it up), but it would actually be useful if I did.
