Can you put a free air sub in a box?

I know this is a noob q but pease laugh and then answer the q. I have 2 kicker free air 8's 29-1khz 150 watts RMS 4 ohms that I would like to put in a box. I am not sure if this will sound good or not. Now I know the subs are cheap but they are what I have at this time so I am going to try to use them until I get sick of them.

Ignore the idiots above.

What specific model of subwoofers do you have ?

Sounds like he has a pair of the old Kicker F-8s. They like a ported box, IIRC as opposed to the sealed box leaning of the Comp series and the early Solobarics.

well yall are crazy to not beleive me and im not trying to be funny but believe me buddy im MECP certified professional.
Whatever you are trying to do, you are quite simply wrong. That in blue does not mean that in red as evidenced by yourself. If you don't know what I mean, look up the meaning of the word "professional" when used as an adjective.

Thanks for the responses. I really don't care about the people making stupid comments; it really shows more about them than me. They are replacement kicker KSR subs. They originally came in a ported box. I really just wanted to know if they would sound better in a sealed box over "free air". I have been out of the game for a long time and I'm just trying to make my low-end system sound as good as possible.

If anybody knows what kind of box these will sound the best in let me know. Hey send me specs on the box if possible..

For the people who actually had constructive comments THANK YOU

Everyone who tried to crack on me well thanks for the laughs... I know I shouldn't laugh at the intellectually challenged but I can't help myself sometimes.

The kicker free airs are the same sub as the Kicker comps, just has a diff sticker on the magnet. You'll put them in the same box as you would for a comp of the same year. Squeak is right, don't listen to some of the missleaders in here.

i wasn't trying tto misslead, but their are subs that are specific unique designs called "free air subs" those kickers obviously aren't... i trust squeak... but here is one example...

these don't appear to be the same as any other model anyone know what makes them free air subs? and why they are diff?

My understanding was that "free" air drivers had a higher overall Q which gave them a predictable behavior in infinite baffle alignment. Qts was often close to .7 already.

I had a few that I used in a large sealed box. Still have a pair of kicker F6.5's that I used as midbasses mounted in larger doors.

makes sence... anyone know the purpose of the ridges in the cone, or how they affect it?

Yeah, same subs with totally different T/S parameters. Oh, but that would make them totally different subs though wouldn't it...

Such as yourself?
