Can you leave the grill off of the speakers?(Rear 6x9 speakers)

Hey, I was wondering if you can leave the grill off of 6x9 speakers, the reason I ask it because the speakers I got, with the grill I would need to do some cutting of the rear cover to make them fit. and if I leave the grill off, they fit perfectly....So can I leave it off?

Nope... they won't work without the grill...

nah, just being a d!ck, grills are not needed and most people don't use them.
